
New Delhi: Air India, led by founder Tata Group, has decided to add 100 Airbus aircraft to its historic fleet of 470 aircraft by 2023.
Air India on Monday confirmed an order for 100 more Airbus aircraft, including 10 wide-body A350 aircraft and 90 narrow-body A320 family aircraft, including the A321neo. The 100 new planes are in addition to 470 firm orders AI placed with Airbus and Boeing last year.
In addition, AI has selected Airbus’ Flight Hour Service Component (FHS-C) to support the maintenance needs of its growing A350 fleet.

With the order for 100 additional aircraft, Air India now has a total of 344 new aircraft from Airbus, of which six A350s have been received so far. Air India has also ordered 220 wide-body and narrow-body aircraft from Boeing in 2023, of which 185 are still to be delivered.
The latest order brings Air India’s total aircraft order from Airbus to 350 aircraft in 2023 from 250 aircraft, including 40 A350 and 210 A320 family aircraft.
The new materials and maintenance contract with Airbus will help Air India optimize the reliability and performance of its A350 fleet and provide comprehensive engineering services and integrated component services, including on-site inventory provided by Airbus in Delhi.
