The BJP argued that the move was an admission of guilt and demanded legal action against the two leaders.
At a press conference in Delhi, BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi said the return of land by the Haq family trust was a clear sign of wrongdoing.
Trivedi also drew parallels with a similar incident involving former Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and accused the two Congress leaders of abusing their power to acquire land.
“The decision of the Mallikarjun Kharge Family Trust to return the allotted land reflects what the previous CM Siddaramaiah did earlier. This proves that the highest levels of the Congress party are involved in the abuse of power to grab land in Karnataka,” Trivedi said .
Trivedi further attacked the leadership of the great old party, contrasting today’s leaders with those of the past, such as those involved in Vinoba Bhave’s ‘Bhudhan’ movement. He claimed that under the influence of Sonia and Rahul Gandhi, the Congress leaders were now engaged in what he called “bhu-hadap” (land grabbing)) Activity.

He further accused Siddaramaiah of being involved in the MUDA scam, in which the former chief minister and his wife were named as the main accused. The BJP claimed that both the Kharge and Siddaramaiah families returned the land allotted to them to avoid legal embarrassment.
Soon after the Lokayukta police filed a case against Siddaramaiah, his wife and brother-in-law, Siddaramaiah’s wife Parvathi returned 14 plots of land to MUDA and Congress president’s son Rahul M Kharge withdrew the land application.
The BJP has demanded the immediate resignation of Malikajung Haq and Siddaramaiah, claiming that their actions tarnish the image of the Congress party and are a clear example of corruption, abuse of power and nepotism.
