The captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), KL Rahul admitted the winning effort and worthiness of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for an 8 wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
He had also taken a snapshot of KKR’s third IPL title celebration by team based in Kolkata on his Instagram story, commending them for being consistent throughout the entire season.
“A team that has been consistently good throughout. A team that played exciting cricket. A team that deserved to win this year. Congratulations Kolkata Knight Riders,” KL Rahul wrote on Instagram.
Nitish Rana, KKR’s batsman, shared his thoughts via social media about seven years with the franchise. He revealed how much he loved them and how much they contributed to his growth as an individual during those times when he was playing for KKR.
“For me it’s been a roller-coaster ride in past 7 years with @KKRiders I have enjoyed every moment of it irrespective of what it was. In seven years I never lost any game as player. It is a process where you learn and grow beyond your imagination,” Rana wrote on X.
Moreover, he reaffirmed his ambitions to win the trophy as a player saying, “This is what I wanted as a player this is why I love this franchise.”
During the finals SRH won the toss and chose to bat first while chasing down the target of 114 runs set by KKR last year IPL champs against SRH who batted first after winning the toss Mitchell Starc led attack bowls consistently took wickets keeping SRH score at manageable levels; only Pat Cummins managed Twenty-four runs off nineteen balls and Aidan Markram managed Twenty off twenty-three balls made up 20 plus scores out of their dismissals directing to 113 all out in just eighteen point three overs, Russell got 3/19 and Starc had 2/14 and Harshit Rana 2/24 stood out for KKR on the bowling side.
KKR went after the target of 114 runs in just ten point three overs losing only two wickets. The eventual champions in the final match of the tournament were helped to a large extent by Venkatesh Iyer (52* off 26 balls) and Rahmanullah Gurbaz (39 off 32 balls).
