On Saturday, India will face South Africa in the final of the T20 World Cup. There are also experienced spinners Ravichandran Ashwin Emphasizing the key role of the head coach Rahul Dravid On the team’s journey.
Ashwin praised Dravid for changing the team’s approach and contributing significantly to their success in a 2024 T20 World Cup.
When referring to past experiences. Ashwin told about Dravid’s troubled path including his resignation as an ODI captain after India’s quick knockout from a 2007 ODI World Cup. On his YouTube channel, Ashwin said: “there is one heavenly guy that I want to talk about. In 2007, we got knock out from the fifty-over World Cup. At that time, Rahul Dravid was our captain but he wasn’t captaining.
According to Ashwin, this dedication and hard work over a few years have contributed significantly to what has changed for good regarding how well it goes with this cricketing side.
He told me: “I understand what he has done for this team over those last two or three years. I know how stable he is in himself. I am aware of how difficult it was for him to change his attitude completely. Information about people around him? How much? Even if he just sits at home like that, all day long he is plotting on doing this or that.”
In tough conditions during the T20 World Cup India remained undefeated indicating their resilience and adaptability as a team.
“We should all realize this,” said Ashwin recognizing importance of reaching finals. Reaching finals at any world cup is a huge achievement itself because there are not only difficult weather conditions but numerous battles. Which you don’t even know about can be daunting issues even small things can challenge your unit.
The final against South Africa not only marked the end of India’s title drought but was also Dravid’s last assignment as India’s head coach.
