Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh DGP Prashant Kumar said that more than 50 contingency plans have been designed to deal with possible unexpected situations during the upcoming Kumbh Mela.
The Times of India hosted a conclave in Lucknow on Wednesday to celebrate ‘Holy Uttar Pradesh – A Must-Visit Sacred Journey’ to celebrate the role of the Kumbh Temple in driving economic growth, tourism and development in the state. “Enhanced disaster management Units and medical facilities are in place to effectively respond to emergencies,” he said.
“The length of the Sangam bathing ghat has been increased to 12 kilometers across three fronts, allowing over one crore devotees to take holy ablution daily without crowding. Additional floating bridges and traffic diversions have also been established system to facilitate smooth traffic and detention areas have been set up to regulate the movement of devotees,” the Attorney General said.
“Learning from the 2013 railway station stampede, the Ministry of Railways, Rwanda Railways, General Railways and local authorities have coordinated and arranged more than 1,000 special trains. Nine railway stations around Prayagraj will receive devotees. Crowd management, regulations for transportation and medical facilities,” the state police chief said.
“Compared to the 2013 Kumbh Mela, the allocation of funds for security and disaster management has increased 300 times. “Artificial intelligence (AI) will be used for crowd control, facial recognition and traffic control. The DGP said the police are using Bhashini app to assist tourists who speak different languages. “The app facilitates seamless communication by translating regional languages, allowing officials to assist tourists effectively. This initiative will ensure better support and enhance tourist experience during large gatherings and tourism events.
