In a shocking defeat against T20 World Cup newcomers USA, Pakistan has been criticized by ex-India batsman Yuvraj Singh over their deficient tactics. However, this target of 160 was not defended by the Pakistanis which resulted in a Super Over that they eventually lost.
They were unsuccessful to achieve the chase of 19 runs during the Super Over, and it saw them losing to the United States, which got a historical victory as a result.
Yuvraj took to X to challenge Pakistan’s decisions, particularly leaving Fakhar Zaman out from the strike in such an important super over.
On X he said “I don’t understand why dint @FakharZamanLive take strike to lefty seamer – when it is easier for a left hander to hit through the angle that bowler is tryin’ to create”.
2014 T20 World Cup winner Yuvraj also lauded Team USA for their intelligent choices under pressure, with special mention of captain Monank Patel’s leadership qualities. He reiterated that Pakistan had no choice but beat India in their forthcoming match.
“Nonetheless have to give it #TeamUSA @usacricket for making smart decisions under pressure specially the captain Monank Patel. Now, Pakistan needs a must-win against India and they surely need to bat and field better!” Yuvraj added.
According to him; “First 6 overs while batting we didn’t capitalise. Back to back wickets always put you on the back foot, as a batter you need to step up and build partnerships. We were not up to the mark in first 6 overs with ball either. These things cost us because our spinners did not take wickets in middle overs,” Babar stated after loss.
The next hurdle before Pakistan will be high-stakes Group A contest against arch-rivals India at New York in T20 World Cup on Sunday.
