Andhra Pradesh’s ruling Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) has selected senior leader and member of the Lok Sabha V Vijayasai Reddy as its candidate Nellore for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The candidate, who is said to be close to party president and chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, is very excited about his first election to the House of Representatives.
“I have been working for the party since its inception in 2011 and have handled various elections including 2014. I have always had the desire to run for office and I am happy to have the opportunity this time.” Only when one can I only consider him a leader when he has a place in the hearts of the people.
Andhra Pradesh will hold simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections on May 13. Counting will take place on June 4.
Confident that the people will re-elect the YSR government to the Assembly, Reddy said the party government in the state from 2019 to 2024 has done a lot for the common people.
“87% of the people of Andhra Pradesh are beneficiaries of the schemes or policies of the government led by Jagan Mohan Reddy. We are focusing on the empowerment of the poor and downtrodden in the society. People must be aware of the impact of the 2019-2024 The governance is satisfactory,” the Nellore candidate said.
Rejecting the opposition’s accusation that Jagan encouraged a free dole culture, Vijaya Sai Reddy said his government has always been a welfare and development-focused government. “In the last five years, our government has been very cohesive and focused on welfare schemes and development. We have given special attention to health and education infrastructure, which is why there are government hospitals in every district. Apart from this, we have also Roads, fishing ports, etc. were built.
Reddy said why the Center, including Modi, continues to question the Congress and other parties for proposing reservations for the Muslim community. He reiterated the YSRCP’s stand that it would not deny or cancel such reservations provided to the Muslim community.
“The late YS Rajasekhara Reddy declared reservation for the backward classes of Muslims. This was challenged both in the High Court and the Supreme Court, which was upheld by the full bench of the Supreme Court. As of now, there is no question of withdrawing the reservation that has been made. If Any move to remove this reservation for the Muslim community at large, YSRCP will be at the forefront against it,” said Vijayasai Reddy.
While the BJP manifesto and senior leaders such as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and union home minister Amit Shah announced the party’s intention to bring a Uniform Civil Code (UCC) for the country, the BJP general secretary said his party will against it.
“Our position on the Uniform Civil Code is very clear and has been defined by the party and our party president. Any bill brought before Parliament for passage must have the will of community leaders. India is a multicultural, multi-ethnic society and any change must Focus on the aspirations of the people. Political parties may try to use possible means to force the bill through the Parliament. However, the YSR Congress will not accept a bill that is not acceptable to community leaders including Muslims. We are against the UCC,” Reddy said. .
In 2019, the YSRCP not only won a resounding victory in the assembly elections, dealing a heavy blow to the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) led by N Chandrababu Naidu, but also won 22 of the 25 state Lok Sabha seats.
“We have done a lot of good work, which makes us confident of winning all 25 seats in the Lok Sabha and all 175 seats in the Assembly. The YSR Congress is fighting against three political parties, namely the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Jana Sena and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. Party, this is a lonely war. We will hit the bullseye and get full marks. This is certainly not an exaggeration.
