Kapil Dev, one of India’s most iconic cricketers and former captain, was full of praise for Rohit Sharma’s leadership as well as his batting insisting that he is different from many great players who played for themselves.
In “Super 8s’ stage of the tournament,” Rohit contributed significantly to India’s total of 205/5 against Australia with a knock of 92 off just 41 balls which helped them win by 24 runs.
The manner in which he took a stand beyond himself has won him compliments from not only Kapil but also many other past cricketers and experts.
According to Kapil, unlike the animated Kohli, this skipper does not show his aggression.
“He (Rohit) doesn’t play like Virat, uchhal kood nahi karta (doesn’t jump around like Virat). But he knows his limitations, and within those limitations. There is no better player than him,” said Kapil at an event. A video clip of Kapil speaking at the event has gone viral on socal media.
England plays India on Thursday evening (8 pm India time) in Guyana during the second semifinal match of the T20 World Cup. However, rain looms large over the game in Guyana. If the match gets abandoned due to rain because there is no reserve day for the second semi-final. Then India will go through to the final courtesy of their finish at top place in Super 8s. On the other hand England finished second in Group2 while India topped Group1.
