Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami, is currently working hard so that he can make a return to international cricket. He posted an image on social media of himself training in the nets with a clear caption indicating his determination to come back strong and make an impact for India.
“Ball in hand and obsession in my heart, ready to turn the game.#shami #mdshami #mdshami11,” Shami wrote on one of his social media platforms.
Shami’s most recent competitive match was in November when he played for team India during the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup final against Australia at Ahmedabad, which ended up as a loss for India.
However, Mohammed Shami had an outstanding tournament where fans and cricket experts hailed him for his pace and swing. In just seven matches he claimed impressive 24 wickets at 10.70 apiece with economy rate of 5.26.
He had some remarkable performances including four-wicket hauls and three five-wicket hauls thus taking figures of 7/57 being the best among them against New Zealand in the semis.
Mohammed Shami did not let pain hinder his performance throughout the tournament. After the world cup he was missing from South Africa tour and three-match T20I series versus Afghanistan in January.
In February, Shami underwent a successful recovery process for an Achilles tendon injury, which led to him missing Indian Premier League (IPL) with Gujarat Titans (GT) and ICC T20 World Cup held in West Indies & USA where India emerged victorious by defeating South Africa in the final.
Mohammed Shami is widely considered as one of the finest fast bowlers of modern era having taken 448 wickets in just 188 games spread across all formats including 11 five-wicket hauls.
