NEW DELHI: Haryana’s promising young fast bowler Anshul Kamboj has recently made a notable impact in Indian domestic cricket with an exceptional performance in the Ranji Trophy.
At the Chaudhry Bansi Lal Cricket Stadium in Lahli, Kamboj achieved the remarkable feat of taking all 10 wickets in an innings against Kerala, finishing with incredible figures of 10/49.
This rare achievement has placed him among an elite group, making him only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to accomplish this feat.
This milestone comes after a gap of 39 years, aligning Kamboj with two legendary bowlers, Premangsu Chatterjee and Pradeep Sunderam, who had previously achieved the same in the tournament. His outstanding performance has captured widespread attention, showcasing his immense talent.
Kamboj resumed play on the third day after claiming eight wickets during the second day’s action, and swiftly dismissed Basil Thampi and Shoun Roger to achieve a remarkable ten-wicket haul.
Previously in September, during Duleep Trophy matches at Anantapur in Andhra Pradesh, Kamboj had secured figures of 8-69, becoming the third fast bowler to achieve an eight-wicket haul in the competition, following Debasis Mohanty (10/46) and Ashoke Dinda (8/123).
Originally from Karnal, Kamboj gained recognition after taking 17 wickets in 10 matches, contributing significantly to Haryana’s victory in the Vijay Hazare Trophy last season.
His subsequent involvement with Mumbai Indians in IPL 2024 saw him claim two wickets across three matches.
In recent times, Kamboj represented India ‘A’ at the Emerging Men’s Asia Cup in Oman last month, securing four wickets across three matches.
In the history of Test cricket, only three bowlers have achieved the feat of taking all ten wickets in a single innings: Jim Laker, Anil Kumble, and Ajaz Patel.
