Yuvraj Singh, the ex-all-rounder from India, came to American’s number one TV show ‘Good Morning America’ and explained the game of cricket directed at their audiences.
Yuvraj was with Michael Anthony Strahan, who hosted the program and Sam Champion–the famous weathercaster. He made a deliberate effort to explain why baseball is different from cricket, which is considered as one of the most popular games in America.
Cricket’s T20 World Cup Ambassador expressed his surprise that cricket was played in America and hoped it would gain more popularity there over time.

“I never thought there would be cricket being played in America. It’s exciting! I hope people in American will watch these matches,” said Yuvraj who won the first ever T20 World Cup during an interview on Good Morning America.
“Whenever I meet an American he asks me what is meant by ‘cricket’. I replied “it is similar to baseball except we do not run on four quarters but on straight lines”. The swing of cricket and that of baseball are quite similar. The set-up is also identical. In baseball you can swing at anything. In cricket you keep your bat down because the ball bounces and comes to you,” Yuvraj explained when making a comparison between baseball and cricket.
“Yes, initially. And once you get set then you use your power. When we hit it out of our ground it’s called Home Run in Baseball, but here we call it six runs in Cricket.”
I think maybe less time in baseball where if u strike out 3 times u r gone. You have to react really quickly in cricket compared to baseball where you have to play everything straight; however, we can play behind square leg,” he concluded.
