As India’s victory in the T20 World Cup sinks in and the euphoria dies down, members of India’s triumphant campaign can now relax and reminisce over the memories and experiences from that one month in US and Caribbean islands when they won eight matches on a trot to clinch the trophy.
The Rohit Sharma-led team lifted the trophy after beating South Africa by seven runs in an exciting final at Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29. One of those behind the scene staff involved in this journey was Kamlesh Jain who has posted his picture with India skipper Rohit and coach Rahul Dravid with a heartfelt note full of admiration.
“Between two of the most selfless people you could ever hope to work with, I must say my mind is full of thoughts. Achievements like runs, catches, wickets stumping, captaincy capabilities, skills set etc are amazing but their distinctiveness lies in respect for everyone’s opinions. And making everyone feel valued,” Jain wrote on Instagram along with a photo where he stands between Dravid and Rohit.”
“Team” being discussed or included as part of any meeting is normal for them. These guys have hearts made of gold but wise minds which spent uncountable hours just discussing how we can improve our team continuously,” he said further
Jain hinted that both Rohit and Dravid always sought progress even. While their team kept winning match after match at T20 World Cup.
“Even when they win big matches like these, their minds don’t go off track… what could be done better?” Jain added.
He concluded that post expressing thanks.
“They deserve immense gratitude from every member among us for this achievement. It would be an Indian dream come true to see India triumph in ICC competition. For me personally as well as each Indian out there this win will be cherished forever.”
“These two legends will always remain INDIAN CRICKET greats. For now, all I can say is hats off and salute to ROHIT and RAHUL sir!” he ended.
This was Dravid’s last assignment as the team’s head coach in the T20 World Cup. BCCI has named Gautam Gambhir as Dravid’s replacement who will be taking over from the Sri Lankan tour onwards.
Rohit also retired from T20 internationals after the final.
