Star Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal made a big impression in the ongoing County Championship Division II match against Derbyshire on Tuesday.
Yuzvendra Chahal played his part in Northamptonshire and Destroyed added Derbyshire’s batting order earning himself a splendid five wicket haul.
His performance in the tournament has stirred discussion, especially in the light of his absence in the recent series where India has played.
Northamptonshire was asked to bat first and posted a par score of 219 courtesy of Saif Zaib’s stupendous 90 and Justin Broad’s competent 45.
In what was unfortunate, Indian star Prithvi Shaw who was in the Northamptonshire team also regregaded with the mode of the bat getting only poor four runs in the first innings.
Chasing the target, Derbyshire was bundled out for 165 on account of Chahal’s brilliant bowling performance. Luis Reece got them off well by scoring a half century but after that the game was in Chahal’s control.
He took the wicket of Wayne Madsen who was threatening to go for 47. He had already picked up Aneurin Donald and was now preparing to crush the rest of the opposition.
Yuzvendra Chahal’s performance didn’t end at that. Before finishing the four-wicket haul of Chahal, he claimed the wickets of Zak Chappell, Alex Thomson and Jack Morley to ensure Northamptonshire lead with 54 runs.
All the pressure was dented further when off spinner Robert Keogh claimed three wickets.
