Samit, the son of former India batting great Rahul Dravid, has been in the news a lot despite being relatively new to domestic cricket.
Samit, like his father, is right-handed batsman who has earned himself a reputation at junior level with some eye-catching performances, showing glimpses of the cricketing skills passed down from his dad. He has represented teams in various age categories within Karnataka and was part of many big tournaments.
Samit was dismissed for only 7 runs while playing for Mysore Warriors against Bengaluru Blasters in the Maharaja Trophy KSCA T20 2024 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday but hit an incredible six that made everyone to sit up and take notice of him.
Naveen MG bowled the seventh over where he pitched it up and Samit smashed it through long-on and deep mid-wicket.
The timing on that shot was so perfect such that the ball sailed into stands as Samit’s teammates clapped their hands from the dugout.
There is a video showing this shot on the official X handle used by the tournament’s broadcaster:
Samit’s one shot confirmed what his ability could be if given time as Naveen MG got his revenge next delivery catching him out with Suraj Ahuja.
Although still young and at an early stage of his cricket career, Samit has been noticed due to his batting skills and potential to walk in his father’s footsteps.
