After winning the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award 2023 and receiving Sir Garfield Sobers trophy a few hours ago, Pat Cummins on Friday took a hat-trick against Bangladesh in their T20 World Cup Super 8 clash at Antigua.
Cummins, Australia’s Test and ODI captain, went through Mahmudullah, Mahedi Hasan, Towhid Hridoy to become the fourth Australian bowler in T20Is that got a hat-trick.
In his 18th over of Bangladesh innings, while bowling his penultimate delivery. Cummins first picked up Mahmudullah as he ventured an edge to a slower ball straight towards his stump off inside edge.
Adam Zampa was there at third man to take the next ball from Mahedi Hasan who played it directly into his hands for a duck out after just one new delivery.
With Cummins having caught Josh Hazlewood at short fine-leg who had scooped the first ball of the next over via Towhid Hridoy only became second Aussie after Brett Lee to have taken an instance when T20 World Cup recorded its hat trick.
Australia restricted Bangladesh to 140/8 riding on their good bowling.
