For India’s cricketers, who are national stars, it is not possible to walk freely in the streets of their own country without the risk of being mobbed by fans. However, Rohit may change when they go abroad. But then again, as there is a lot of Indian settlement in America, they can always get surrounded by by fans requesting autographs or selfies.
Thus spoke the India captain Rohit Sharma when he found himself in such a situation.
In a video circulating on social media platforms, Rohit could be seen getting inside a car with his family members as some fans ran towards them seeking for his autograph and just having a glimpse of him.
As the security person was trying to distance crowds from him, Rohit did turn back to acknowledge his followers.
“Yesterday’s game was fantastic,” one fan said, possibly referring to India’s 6-run thrilling victory against Pakistan.
“Thank you guys. Thank you.” responded Rohit.
India have won both their matches so far in the tournament, against Ireland and Pakistan respectively and sit atop Group A. One more win will see them through into the ‘Super 8s’ stage.
On June 12th , Rohit’s Men in Blue will play against co-hosts USA at New York.
