Sri Lanka at Pallekele 3rd T20I against India went to a Super Over after Suryakumar Yadav pulled off a heist in the last over with his team needing 30 runs off the last 30 balls, just 9 wickets in hand.
Super Over started with Sri Lanka batting first and their top scorers Kusal Perera and Kusal Mendis took guard.
India Team Captain Suryakumar Yadav, however, surprisingly opted for Washington Sundar after Rinku Singh bowled an excellent penultimate over that yielded only three runs and two wickets.
The young spinner gave away only 23 runs from his four overs while taking two wickets.
The first ball of the Super Over was delivered by Sundar and it moved wide of Mendis which was called a wide followed by single run on the very next delivery.
Perera attempted to play defensively back foot stroke to pull it away but he mistimed it and sent it straight into deep backward square leg where Bishnoi secured an easy catch on the second delivery from Sundar which was slightly slow than expected and short enough to be easily pulled; dismissed Nissanka sent the full toss pitched on middle stump down fine leg’s throat towards deep mid-wicket as Sri Lanka were all out for just 2 runs.
First ball of Maheesh Theekshana’s over went through backward square leg boundary as Indian won the super over and then T20 series with a score line of 3-0.
There is official footage of this superover video available on x handle for everyone who missed yesterday’s game or have interest in cricket especially T20s.
Man of the match was given to Washington Sundar while player of the series award was picked up by Suryakumar Yadav.
