India again became the T20 world champions defeating South Africa in the final of T20 World Cup 2024 on June 29 in Barbados and after that there were scenes which were full of emotions.
But, while the live broadcast cameras captured some scenes out on the ground, what happened inside the dressing room wasn’t seen or known until BCCI shared a video capsule on Tuesday through its various social media handles which gave glimpses of the Indian squad celebrating their monumental feat.
The coronation of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav smooching the trophy, Rohit Sharma’s weighty looks being lightened up by a sigh of relief, coach Rahul Dravid going loose for once in his job and players & support staff taking pictures with trophy – almost every mood was quite salivary.
Towards the end of this video clip you will see Arshdeep Singh showing two pictures one taken before the final match inside dressing room and another after it.
“That’s what belief can do,” commented Arshdeep who took joint highest wickets with Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi. Atumpong ended with 17 wickets to his name as well.
India won against Proteas by seven runs in such a thrilling last-over finish. India posted 176 for 7 before restricting South Africa to 169 for 8 thereby capturing the trophy.
Jasprit Bumrah named ‘Player of Tournament’ while Kohli receives ‘Player of Match’ award for his knock (76) in finals.
This is also India’s second victory in history having previously won their first title during MS Dhoni’s captaincy at inaugural edition held in 2007.
Title also meant an end to India’s wait for another ICC Trophy as they had last lifted one during Champions Trophy played in England back then after gap of 11 years.
