NEW DELHI: Remember the ‘brain fade’ moment of Steve Smith in a Test against India?
It was on Day 4 of the 2nd Test at Bengaluru in the 2017 Test series that Smith was trapped plumb in front by India seamer Umesh Yadav.

Smith, who at that time was the Australian captain and well-versed with the laws of the DRS system, was clearly aware that the only person whom he could turn to for an opinion was the non-striker (Peter Handscomb), but much to everybody’s astonishment, he chose to seek the wisdom of his mates in the dressing room.
The then Indian captain Virat Kohli was clearly infuriated and upon his intervention, umpire Nigel Llong had to send Smith off the field.
Almost a similar incident occurred in the T20 World Cup Group D match between Bangladesh and Nepal at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent.
The first ball of the 14th over by Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane hit Bangladesh’s Tanzim Hasan Sakib on the pads while he was looking to sweep as the ball dipped in nicely and snuck under the bat before hitting his back thigh. Given out, Sakib was already walking off, before taking a review.
But now, a video is doing the rounds that Bangladesh’s Jaker Ali, who was at the non-striker’s end, had signaled to the dressing room before asking for a review. Not just that, even the allotted 15 seconds had passed when the on-field umpire Ahsan Raza of Pakistan signaled for the third umpire’s decision.
The ball-tracker showed that it just turned enough to go past off-stump and Sakib was adjudged not out.

Nepal were served justice on the next ball when Sakib was clean bowled by the wrong-un by Lamichhane, while playing for the leg-break, leaving a massive gap between bat and pad through which the ball went to crash into the stumps.
