On Wednesday, the bureaucrat-turned-politician said this while meeting a group of journalists at Gopalpur in Ganjam district.
“They (BJP) had a slogan of 120 seats in parliament by 2014 but could not meet that target I don’t know what their target is for 2019.
According to him, the saffron party would adopt this strategy after Maharashtra, Karnataka and Madhya Pradesh in Odisha.
“Many national level people are coming to state for the campaign but Odisha people do not trust them. “CM Naveen Patnaik is the trust of the people,” he said Pandian added.
Replying to his allegations, senior BJP leader Samir Mohanty stated that there was no need to split BJD for saffron party.
“We do not have any intention to break BJD. It will itself break up. We have many Eknath Sindhes in our party who are coordinating with us,” he told a section of media persons here.
Mohanty said that polls are being contested by the BJP for government formation in Orissa.
Earlier when asked if he was confident about Patnaik becoming chief minister consecutively for sixth time, Padian asserted that BJD would win elections brilliantly.
“If I didn’t believed so then I wouldn’t say on my mind that Naveen babu will be taking oath as Chief Minister on June ninth through blessings of Maha Prabhu Jugnauth” he said.
He maintained that BJP has no candidates in sixty out of one hundred and forty-seven assembly constituencies in Orissa.
“Waiting for BJD candidate list publication which allows them choosing from leaders we have forsaken or rejected,” he said.
The Shree Mandir Parikrama project (Jagannath temple heritage corridor project) has been targeted by Pandian who also condemned Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi for it.
“The ASI, National Monuments Authority (NMA), petitions to both High Court & Supreme Court are being used to stop the project. They also got expensive advocate so that they could not start work,” claimed Pandian.
Pandian targeted Pradhan stating that he rejected by his own people from Dhenkanal.
“His party failed in the panchayat and city polls. So, he ran away and filed nomination papers from the nearby Sambalpur Lok Sabha seat. He did nothing for his district. If he had done something for Odisha The state has done some good things or our chief minister will be enlightened and not allow any candidate to go against him but his track record is very bad” added Pandian.
“Who is he?”, Pradhan asked when reporters asked Pandian for his comments on his contribution to Odisha.
In response to a question about BJP raising an issue of Odia Asmita during elections, Pandian said that the central government has never spent even a penny for promoting the Odia language.
He claimed that despite having eight Odisha MPs in Lok Sabha, none of them spoke out when funds were given by the Centre to promote other languages at the expense of Oriya.
