Arun Kumar is no stranger to walking on the busy streets keralaof Kollam or driving along the highway to Thiruvananthapuram, sirens blaring. Nevertheless, faced with a daunting task of 2400 kms journey from Kollam to Raiganj; BengalGiven that she was advised by doctors to limit stops for food and fuel, it seemed like an impossible mission.
For 15 years Bodhini Bhahan has lived in Kollam with her son Sowthish who is now 44 years old seeking greener pastures since and she has never looked back at the miserable life she fled from. The job family live happily together. But this year earlier on Bodhini had a stroke and became bedridden. She hopes to return to her hometown and reunite with her loved ones.
Sowthish understands her wishes but faces challenges in achieving them. He was overwhelmed – he couldn’t afford expensive air tickets and his mother couldn’t survive the mid-summer train journey from Kollam to Raiganj. “The only option was an ambulance, but there was none ambulance driver “Since the journey is far away, he is willing to take us to Bangladesh.” Said Sowthish Limited Emirati ambulance company Service agreed out of compassion rather than profit through which it would transport Bodhini at a lower fare to Bangladesh after considering our situation they agreed on Rs 90,000. Looking back on this journey, Kieran highlights Allen’s determination to make the seemingly impossible possible. “Arun took up the challenge, helped them and asked me to make necessary arrangements for that day It was only because of his determination that this was possible alone as one cannot easily drive such long distances,” he said.
