According to India’s T20 World Cup winner Kuldeep Yadav, who reached out to them, his fellow Indians and fans of cricket are the “strongest pillars” of the team because they helped Rohit Sharma & Company reach the final and win this much coveted trophy in the West Indies last month.
On June 29 at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, India defeated South Africa by seven runs to clinch another T20 World Cup title after their first triumph under MS Dhoni’s captaincy in 2007 at the inaugural edition of the tournament.
“My fellow countrymen, for me and us as a whole,” said Kuldeep on his micro blogging social media platform ‘X’ thanking millions of fans who had come on streets celebrating their victory parade in Mumbai last week.
We have realized a dream that we were pursuing for so long together. I want to thank my teammates, management staffs as well and especially our biggest strength – supporters across all matches,” continued Kuldeep.
However, he was brought into playing eleven when India made it into super eights stage and played on sluggish Caribbean pitches instead of fast seamer Mohammed Siraj during group matches held in US.
“I hope we have entertained you all and given you moments of joy that you, your family and friends will cherish with us for a lifetime,” read Kuldip’s post. “Home sweet home guys, one for all.”
Kuldeep played five matches during India unbeaten run to the finals (won eight matches). He picked up 10 wickets with a best figure being three wickets for 19 runs at an economy rate of 6.95.
