NEW DELHI: Travis Head‘s dynamic performances against India have become a defining feature of his career. Whether in the ODI World Cup or the T20 World Cup, Head has consistently delivered explosive batting that has put Indian bowlers under severe pressure.
During the 2023 ODI World Cup, Head played a pivotal role in Australia’s title-winning campaign. In a crucial final against India, he dazzled with a commanding 137 off 120 balls, featuring 15 boundaries and four sixes. His innings was crucial in chasing down India’s 240 at the packed Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, leading Australia to victory.
In the 2024 T20 World Cup, Head continued his impressive run. Against India in a critical group-stage match, he smashed a blistering 76 off 43 balls while chasing a target of 206. Although Australia fell short by 24 runs, Head’s performance once again highlighted his exceptional ability against India.
Are India Head’s favourite opponent?
“I don’t feel like they’re my favourite,” Head told Star Sports.
“I just feel like we play them enough, play them lots. And, I guess the last couple of years I’ve been in nice form. So yeah, being able to, to play well, it’s always nice,” Head said.
“I guess it’s not hard to get up for the contest. It’s hugely competitive. Yeah, it’s easier to get up for the game. So I wouldn’t say they’re my favourite. They’re extremely difficult but it’s been nice to play well in a couple of games and looking forward to preparing well and being ready to go and let’s look, hope hopefully I can, I can contribute to what’s a successful summer for us,” Head added.
WATCH:

The Indian team will tour of Australia for a five-match Test series, commencing in November.
The series will kick off with the first Test in Perth on November 22, followed by the second Test in Adelaide from December 6, the third Test in Brisbane from December 14, the fourth Test (Boxing Day Test) in Melbourne from December 26, and the fifth and final Test in Sydney from January 3.
Since the 2014-15 season, Australia have not won the Border Gavaskar Trophy, with India securing the series in the last four meetings, including historic wins in Australia in 2018-19 and 2020-21.
