NEW DELHI: In the Tri-Nation T2OI series, Ireland defied odds and managed to win by a narrow margin of one run against the Netherlands on Sunday despite Pringle’s hard-fought endgame.
While chasing, they were at 108-6 with three overs to go.
However, Tim Pringle almost turned things around for Ireland with his late heroics. This 21-year old showcased his abilities to make big shots by scoring an unbeaten 35 from only 13 balls which comprised of two boundaries and three sixes. Two of these came in as many deliveries during the last over creating a thrilling climax.
Mark Adair, who is an allrounder bowler for Ireland, remained calm amidst extreme pressure. Through this he made sure that Pringle was contained to one off the final delivery thereby saving Ireland’s win at the beginning of this tournament by just one run difference.
Earlier in their innings after winning the toss and opting first fielding, Netherlands put up some pressure on Ireland. Nonetheless, it was Adair who batted at number eight that proved pivotal. He scored an impressive 49 runs from just 24 balls, taking his team score to a very competitive total of 150-8
The Tri-Nation series began with Netherlands defeating Scotland by forty-one runs yesterday. These involve either side; Ireland Netherland as well as Scotland in forthcoming T20 World Cup scheduled for June in US and West Indies.
