Wasim Jaffer, the ex-Indian Test opener, is often known for his sharp-witted and cruel retorts in X especially against English cricketers.
Jaffer shares a love-hate relationship with former England skipper Michael Vaughan, which they both exploit to mock each other over their respective national cricket team’s record.
An English cricket website on Sunday claimed that the T20 World Cup schedule has an Indian slant especially as regards to the semi-final timings of the tournament.
According to this website, Team India knows their SF venue (Guyana) and that match is slated to commence at 8 PM IST on June 27. This is prime time for India while first SF starts at 6 AM IST on June 26 in Trinidad.
Moreover, as per this website, even though the final will be played on June 29th; there is no reserve day for second SF while there is one for first SF.
To which Wasim Jaffer replied with a devastating one-liner today: “It’s one thing to know where your SF will be played, it’s another thing to qualify for it. For example WTC Final have always been held in England but England have never qualified. #T20WorldCup”
This edition of ICC trophies would see Team India led by Rohit Sharma attempting to end their jinx.
India had its last major success when they won the Champions Trophy back in 2013.
Last year India made it all the way to the final of ODI World Cup only to be beaten by Australia before a disconsolate packed stadium of Ahmedabad.
Ireland (June 5), Pakistan (June 9), United States (June 12) and Canada (June 15) are India’s group phase opponents during this year’s T20 World Cup.
