On Sunday, Jason Holder’s, an all-rounder for the West Indies was injured during his performance in County Championship match; hence he will not be available for the coming T20 World Cup.
Obed McCoy, a left-arm fast bowler and the leading wicket taker during a recent tour of Nepal by the team has been named as his replacement in the West Indies squad.
Whilst releasing a statement on Monday, head coach Daren Sammy expressed his belief that the team had enough resources to replace any player saying “Jason Holder’s are fortunate to have such depth and quality in our ranks. Our reserves are top-notch players who are proven performers across different formats of the game especially T20 cricket.”
At same time, Sammy reiterated this fact about other players on bench stating that “Each and every one of them is capable of stepping seamlessly into the team should the need arise.”
The West Indies have won this biennial tournament twice before and they will co-host it with United States from June 1 through June 29. Their first fixture is against Papua New Guinea at Guyana on June 2.
