India’s preparation for the T20 World cup began with their initial training session in New York on Thursday that lasted three hours.
After landing in the US on 27 May, the team had a couple of off-days to get over jet lag and acclimatize to the weather and conditions.
On Thursday, after light workouts the previous day, India’s captain Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav took to batting against bowlers such as Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, Hardik Pandya and Kuldeep Yadav.
Hardik also focused on his batting as well as bowling aspects during a grueling training session. For almost an hour he was seen bowling in the nets before he went aggressively against bowlers while batting.
During net practice, the thirty-year-old had an extended conversation with Vikram Rathour who is a batting coach.
In a strange sight Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh were honing their skills with bat even as all-rounder were busy practicing bowling along with their shots; like Axar Patel, jadeja, Dube and Hardik.
Only participated in light training drills were Yuzvendra Chahal, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Avesh Khan, Rinku Singh who reported late in New York.
The focus of this particular training session was more about getting used to pitch conditions which had lots of bounce in it.
On Saturday, India will play their first warm-up match against Bangladesh.
