The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) complaint into consideration and moved the Pakistan cricket team to a hotel nearer to the match venue in New York for their upcoming T20 World Cup fixtures.
This is because the original accommodation was about an hour and half away from the stadium, according to what PCB indicated.
Chairman Mohsin Naqvi’s board, therefore, filed a formal protest with respect to lengthy travel distance between first given housing and stadium. The ICC re-allocated the team at Naqvi’s request to be lodged at a hotel that is just a five minutes’ drive away fromdenticulated stadium at Westbury in Long Island, New York.
This implies that their new residences are much closer enhancing ease of movement as they prepare for their games. This will be on Sunday when Pakistan takes on India in one of the most anticipated matches followed by Canada in that same place on June 11.
Moreover, Indian cricket team playing its group games in New York is staying in one of the hotels which is just ten minutes away from that pitch. In fact, India won its first match here.
Also, Sri Lankan players had similar concerns about how long it took them to reach pitch while driving more than one hour from their base. Had it not been for this opening game with co-hosts United States scheduled for Thursday night in Dallas; Pakistani national cricket team would have already arrived New York through this route.
An anonymous official of PCB disclosed information pertaining to this development as he spoke under condition of anonymity considering lack of authorization from relevant authorities authorizing him/her speak publicly concerning it. Assisting teams by reducing travel pressure during T20 world cup and fosteringer conditions using means such as addressing logistical complaints were illustrate within ICC’s decision concerning moving Pakistan during worldwide event.
