ICC has slammed Tanzim Hassan, the Bangladesh pacemaker for infringing Level 1 of their Code of Conduct during the T20 World Cup 2024 Group D match against Nepal at Arnos Vale Ground in St Vincent and Grenadines. The occurrence took place on Sunday and ICC has now confirmed the punishment as reported by Times Now.
Tanzim breached Article 2.12 of ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel which says “inappropriate physical contact with a Player, Player Support Personnel, Umpire, Match Referee or any other person (including a spectator during an International Match)” according to ICC statement.
He approached Nepal’s Rohit Paudel aggressively after delivering a ball at the end of the third over when he acted improperly towards him.
Thus, Tanzim will forfeit fifteen percent match fee while one demerit point shall be added to his disciplinary record. This was his initial fault within twenty four months.
For this reason, Tanzim conceded and accepted the penalty offered by Richie Richardson from Emirates ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees without needing any formal hearing. The charge was brought about by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Sam Nogajski as well as third umpire Jayaraman Madanagopal and fourth umpire Kumar Dharmasena.
Level 1 offenses carry punishments ranging from an official rebuke to not more than fifty percent match fees being fined on a player together with one or two demerit points.
