NEW DELHI: West Indies are giving cricket fans an opportunity to see the team play their final warm-up match before the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The match will be against Australia and it will take place at the Queen’s Park Oval in Trinidad on May 30.
This is a final test for refining strategies and preparations of both teams ahead of the T20 World Cup, which will run from June 1 to June 29.
According to Johnny Grave, Chief Executive Officer at Cricket West Indies, “In total, there will be 16 warm up matches across the USA and West Indies with Trinidad and Tobago leading up to the first match on 1st June in Guyana between the West Indies and Australia that our fans are going to want to go to. It will be a real examination for both sides as they prepare themselves for their respective Tournament openers and enable both Head Coaches to have a look at all members of their squads prior to tournament.”
West Indies are in Group C alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, Papua New Guinea, and Uganda. They start against Papua New Guinea on June 2 in Guyana National Stadium. Also scheduled for is another clash on June 12 with New Zealand at Brian Lara Cricket Academy.
