Not only did he perform well with the bat but also showed his brilliance on the field during the ICC T20 World cup finals against South Africa. Suryakumar remembered a catch from him that was breathtaking and it was India who benefited from it as they turned the match around.
When South Africa required 16 runs off the final over with David Miller at the crease, Miller hit a wide full toss from Hardik Pandya. Placed on the boundary Suryakumar got hold of it but threw it up before he crossed the ropes and then came back to take an amazing catch.
India defeated South Africa by seven runs thus ending their 11-year drought for an ICC trophy.
The catch by Suryakumar Yadav is being hailed by fans, cricket pundits, and former cricketers as one of the best catches in a World Cup final ever made.
However, Tuesday saw Suryakumar make known to all about his “most significant catch” which happened not in any T20 WORLD CUP FINAL
“But my most important catch actually came eight years ago yesterday!” wrote Suryakumar with a picture of him and his wife Devisha Shetty. On their eighth wedding anniversary, Devisha Shetty and her husband celebrated with a large cake in addition to pictures taken during this occasion.
Suryakumar scored 199 runs from 8 matches averaging 28.42 during this tournament.
