India’s T20 Internationals captain Suryakumar Yadav has joined the list of players with most Player of the Series awards in T20Is. With his fifth such award, this achievement puts him just one step behind Virat Kohli who leads with six.
This milestone now makes Yadav level with Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Australia’s David Warner.
Yadav achieved this milestone by playing aggressively, stressing his batting style and ability to perform when it mattered the most. So far, he has played a total of 71 T20Is, scoring 2432 runs at an average rate of 42.67. His recent performances have confirmed his place within the team and earned him a reputation as one of the greatest ever T20I players worldwide. His Player of the Series awards are a result of match-winning displays that show how consistent and important he is for Indian cricket.
Shakib Al Hasan and David Warner were also key members in their teams, joining Yusuf Pathan in taking up Yadav’s mantle in international cricket.
With Shakib being known for his all-round skills while Warner is known for his swashbuckling batting approach; these two made it into this prestigious grouping where you find Yadav whose potential will be shaping what happens next in T20 cricket.
At present, Yadav and coach Gautam Gambhir began their new partnership with a 3-0 win over Sri Lanka in a T20I series which they hosted last year. This was not only Gambhir’s first victory as head coach but also served to emphasize Yadav’s importance when leading his team to victory.
These major individual achievements have always been won through match-winning performances by none other than Mr Consistency himself who plays an integral part within India’s setup – Suryakumar Yadav.
