In the recently concluded first Test match between India and Bangladesh, Rishabh Pant made a phenomenal return to playing Test cricket after a while.
Rishabh Pant, who made and played his first Test match in 632 days, scored an emphatic century in India’s second innings helping his side to win by 280 runs.
As the 26-year-old player who made a successful Test return after having been in a car accident in 2022, Akram paid tribute to the spirited young player from Pakistan.
Akram stated that the general populace in Pakistan was concerned just as they were in India when the news of Rishabh pant’s accident broke but upon coming back he worked some miracle in the classical format upon his return.
“Look at Pant’s performance and the miracle that he has made by pretending that he is superhuman because of returning from his tragedy,” Said Akram on sportsKeda.
“All the way in Pakistan, there were worries about how his accident occurred. I was worried; I tweeted about it.”
Although Akram was already impressed with Rishabh Pant’s ability to play strokes, the former cricketer recalled the way the keeper-batsman used to clobber the bowlers before the nasty accident. But for the Pakistani great, it was the manner in which Pant made his return post-accident, which was astonishing.
Akram said, “His style of play then in Test cricket, particularly in Australia where he scored a century, is quite the same as how he used to play:
“His style of batting in playing the reverse sweep against England and the in form [James] Anderson even [Pat] Cummins further is something quite different. He is special.
“Particularly what he had to endure in that horrific accident and coming back from that, that boy must be very strong in the head,” Akram continued.
He would always encourage Rishabh Panth’s story, once again, from squatting low into an ultimate stage of trauma is likely to put into the spirit of youngsters keen to bounce back from most hospitable situations.
“To my opinion, this is a story, which, for the sake of, let’s say young people of the world would be wonderful to motivate. You can come back like Rishabh Pant did,” Akram said.
“40 – returns in the IPL, 446 runs with a strike rate of 155, he is a miracle kid. He came back and did average. “Akram concluded.
