NEW DELHI: The USA Cricket Board has announced that head coach Stuart Law has stepped down, just months after his appointment in April.
Former Australia international Law made a significant impact by helping the USA reach the Super 8s stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup earlier this year, including a notable victory against Pakistan in Texas.
Despite his early success, USA Cricket CEO Johnathan Atkeison announced Law’s departure, citing the need for a change in the team’s next competitive phase.
“Given Stuart’s contribution to the program, this was not an easy decision to make,” Atkeison stated. “Unfortunately, we felt that a change was necessary for the next phase of competitive preparation.”
Under Law’s guidance, the USA performed commendably in the T20 World Cup, which they co-hosted with the West Indies. However, his exit occurs as the USA ramps up its efforts to qualify for the 50-over World Cup for the first time.
The USA team is off to a strong start in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2 campaign. It remains uncertain who will take over the role of head coach to lead the team through the next stage of their qualification journey.
