The former India fast bowler S Sreesanth has schooled Riyan Parag for a comment he made during an interview saying that he does not want to watch the T20 World Cup because he is not part of the team.
India is celebrating after Rohit Sharma & Co. secured victory in the T20 World Cup against South Africa in a thrilling final to lift again after 17 years since the title win under MS Dhoni at its inception in 2007.
Parag had a good season for Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League with 531 runs but was hopeful about being selected for the T20 World Cup only to be left out. That was followed by him going on record stating that he will not watch the T20 World Cup.
“Because I am willing to play world cup, I cannot continue watching cricket”, said Parag.
Sreesanth, who was among Star Sports’ commentary team during the tournament as well as part of it, descended heavily on Parag during the final match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup tournament.
“Some youngsters have also said that they will not watch World Cup because they have not been selected,” noted Sreesanth while on air during Barbados Final on June 29th.
“I would say first you should be patriotic and then you should love cricket. But those people, who have chosen this group, must be helped with all your heart, intellect and fervor,” such irritated words were pronounced by Sree Santh – a winner of both T20 and ODI world cups.
Shubman Gill will captain India during their tour of Zimbabwe which includes Parag in its squad.
Starting from July 6th when there is opening game, India has five matches against Zimbabwe.
