On Thursday following a triumphant victory of the T20 World Cup Title winning team India’s captain Rohit Sharma returned to India after spending his vacation in the United States.

At the airport, he was met with a huge crowd of passionate fans who were eager to see their cricketing icon in person.

To be so overwhelmed by the crowd that even one fan could request for a photograph from Rohit, addressing him as “Rohit sir” and begging him saying “Rohit sir ek photo dedo na” (Rohit sir can you please take a selfie with me).

Also accompanying Rohit was his wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira adding to the celebratory mood surrounding homecoming of the star cricketer. The mad love from fans was evident, signifying how much pride and happiness Rohith’s leadership and team success brought to our country.

After his recent holiday in USA followed by London where he attended Wimbledon, he documented all this on social media platforms displaying what he did right after being crowned world champions in cricket.

The end of an illustrious chapter in his T20I career came when India defeated South Africa in the final of T20 World Cup; consequently, this led to captain deciding to quit T20 International cricket.

Looking forward, there is need for Rohit Sharma to get focused on 50 over format with One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka lined up next. These matches gain special importance as they are seen as build up towards ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

India’s appointment will have three ODIs and three T20 internationals against Sri Lanka from July 27th to August 7th. Furthermore, apart from being newly-appointed head coach Gautam Gambhir’s first assignment under Indian colours this series holds great significance for Team India in terms of tactical adjustments as well as players like Rohit Sharma attesting their abilities in shorter versions of games.
