To commemorate India Men’s T20 World Cup win, Sanju Samson gave out a sneak peek of an exclusive jersey.
On Thursday, the Indian cricket team led by Rohit Sharma arrived in the country to a fanfare aboard a chartered flight that had been scheduled for them only.
Enthusiastic spectators watched as they took their trophy along while going towards ITC Maurya hotel.
Samson posted an image of the new jersey on Instagram. Now it boasts one major difference – the second star above BCCI logo stands for India’s two-time triumphs in T20 World Cups. The word “champions” is boldly imprinted across the front of this shirt and silently screams hard-fought success story ever since then.
“The inclusion of the second star not only harked back to their first inaugural victory in 2007 when MS Dhoni was captain but also weaved together both past and present through a single thread of determination and success,” IANS said.
The Indian cricketers are expected to fly to Mumbai via a special plane after meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
They will reach Mumbai airport from where they will go straight to Wankhede Stadium. After a one-kilometer march from Nariman Point to Wankhede, organized by BCCI, an abbreviated ceremony will be held at Wankhede Stadium.
