Who had featured in the previous warm-up games against Bangladesh. The incident happened at Nassau County International Stadium where Team India will play their T20 World Cup opener.
Rohit seemed irritated with an Indian journalist for asking him about that same June 1 game invasion moment.
“During the warm up game, a fan had suddenly come on the ground. You were like asking him nicely to be calm down when security caught up with him. Can you tell us what was going through your mind?” posed the reporter.
Rohit responded immediately airing his disappointment and pointing out that this should not be encourage or exaggerated.
“Firstly I would say that no one shall intrude any other person’s ground like this. This is wrong and also wrong question because it doesn’t promote this thing of who is running to get into the field. Look at players’ security is important but also those people outside there they have their own security too. It’s also important for those sitting outside to understand that all countries have rules and regulations. Which are very important to abide by them. Therefore for me just sit back watch the match peacefully am telling you we created such an amazing stadium here. So just sit comfortably watch the game; there is no need to rush into the pitch” Rohit responded.
Rohit then went on talking about how important it was for fans to honor and follow host country’s laws. While enjoying themselves without interfering with play from stands
In Bangladesh’s chase during a practice match, one spectator ran past guards in order to meet Rohit Sharma. The fan hugged Rohit before being tackled by 2 police officers who handcuffed him Rohit could be seen requesting security staff not to handle the fan harshly or hurt him/her.
When asked whether such actions distract players, Rohit said: “Distraction nahi hai, humara focus kuch aur cheezon par hota hai. Match par hota hai, so such acts don’t distract players.”
