Wasim Jaffer, the ex-Indian cricketer has recently given his thoughts on the optimal batting line-up for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. According to Jaffer, Kohli and Yashasvi Jaiswal should open the innings for Men in Blue.
From June 1 to June 29, ICC T20 World Cup is going to be held in West Indies and USA. Prior to commencement of the tournament, India will play a warm up game against Bangladesh on June 1 at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York.
Jaffer’s tweet on X (formerly Twitter) stated that Jaiswal, Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav should bat number three and number four respectively. He also said that Rohit plays spin really well so batting at 4 shouldn’t be a concern.
India begins her T20 World Cup campaign on June 5 with a match against Ireland at the newly built Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.
The much awaited India-Pakistan clash is scheduled for June 9 followed by a match against hosts USA on June 12 as well as Canada on June15 which concludes their Group A games.
With an intention to break their ICC trophy drought which started after winning ICC Champions Trophy of 2013, team India would go into this tournament. Since then they have made it to finals or semis of various tournaments but just missed out on major trophies.
They are looking forward to secure their maiden T20 World Cup title since they won inaugural edition in South Africa in 2007. In previous edition held in Australia during year twenty twenty two & one day type world cup competitions India lost semi-final match against England by ten wickets.
