India’s captain, Rohit Sharma is on the verge of creating history as his team plays against South Africa in the T20 World Cup finals on Saturday.
Rohit Sharma is just six runs away from beating Virat Kohli’s record of 1,216 runs to become the highest run-getter in Twenty20 World Cup history and could make India win their first ever T20 world cup under him as a Captain.
Currently, Rohit Sharma has scored 1,211 runs in twenty20 world cups with 248 coming this edition. He has been consistent having scored twelve half centuries and one century throughout these events. In his recent matches he bagged two fifties against Australia and England thus becoming third leading scorer in this competition with 255 runs behind Australia’s Travis Head (281 runs) and Afghanistan’ Rahmanullah Gurbaz (281 runs).
This is India’s third successive ICC final within almost a year, captained by Rohit who has earlier led India to losses against Australia in both World Test Championship and ODI World Cup. India have remained unbeaten through this tournament showing remarkable determination and skill under Sharma.
India have not won any ICC title for eleven years now since they last lifted it in Champions Trophy of 2013, so their chance comes up tomorrow. Rohit hopes to emulate MS Dhoni as a second Indian captain to lift the trophy of T20 World Cup.
