Suryakumar Yadav’s catch in the last moments of South Africa’s pulsating final in Barbados is unforgettable. It was this moment that turned a match in India’s favour. India went on to win by seven runs against South Africa, thus clinching the coveted T20 World Cup trophy.
Various other players have tried to copy Suryakumar’s heroics ever since that exciting T20 World Cup final. Recently, Rohit Paudel, Nepal’s leading cricketer reproduced Suryakumar’s unbelievable catch.
Rohit who is currently playing for Toronto nationals in Global T20 Canada was at the boundary ropes. Brampton Wolves’ Akhil Kumar connected with an outside off delivery from Junaid Siddique with pure brute force.
Rohit ran to his right near/beside/next to the boundary ropes and took a skyer before releasing it just prior to going over the boundary ropes and returning back inside for an outstanding catch.
The Global T20 Canada social media account even praised him: “A catch that would make even Suryakumar proud.”
Suryakumar won the Fielder Medal of the Match during 2024 T20 world cup final after making thrilling long-off catch against David Miller. This gave India a hope and they managed to secure significant victory by seven runs.
David Miller was facing Hardik Pandya with 16 needed off the last over. However, he hit wide full toss from him but Suryakumar balanced himself on the ropes, caught it released it into air as he crossed over then returned inside again for another amazing catch.
