On the fourth day of the second Test, Ravindra Jadeja took the final Bangladesh wicket to reach a milestone of 300 wickets in First-class cricket.
As Bangladesh was 9 down, Indian captain Rohit Sharma called for the left arm orthodox spin bowler to the attack and he had lower order batsman Khaled Ahmed (0) return the ball back to the bowler signifying the landmark in his 73rd Test match.
After being put to bat by Bangladesh on the first day, the team was able to complete their first innings although no cricket was possible on Day Two and Three due to rain. The visitors swung their bats for 233 runs including the maiden century of Mominul Haque (107 not out).
Bumrah was the most successful bowler for India with 3 for 50. The remaining wickets fell to Mohammed Siraj, Akash Deep, and Ashwin who all took 2 wickets while Deep took 2 wickets.
It was the 7th Indian for Ravindra Jadeja to reach the 300 test wicket milestone after Anil Kumble (619), Ravichandran Ashwin (523), Kapil Dev (434), Harbhajan Singh (417), Zaheer Khan (311) and Ishant Sharma (311).
Looking at the number of balls bowled, Jadeja is however the second fastest Indian to 300 wickets in Tests.
As per Cricbuzz, the left armer managed to reach the milestone by delivering 17,428 balls, ranking behind only Ashwin (15,636 deliveries).
With a batting average of 36.73, Jadeja has scored 3122 Test runs (four hundreds and 21 fifties) as well as, as expected, taken a few wickets.
