Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, expressed his linguistic abilities and sense of humor during a press conference before their T20 World Cup opener against Ireland.
When he was asked about complacency in Hindi and there is potential for complacency against Ireland, Dravid used a word in Urdu that not only satisfied himself but also pleased the audience.
Dravid clarified the matter by saying,” this format itself is such that you cannot overlook anyone or take anyone lightly.”
Dravid smiled at himself after using “nazarandaaz” and said amusingly, “Waah! Not bad.Well done,Rahul! (Laughs).”
In the same press conference session, Dravid confirmed that the T20 World Cup 2024 would be his last stint as head coach. He disclosed that he would not apply again for the position and appreciated having worked with top-tier Indian players throughout two years and nine months of management.
With an era ending for Team India due to Dravid’s departure; his era has been credited with fostering a strong team culture as well as developing young bloods.
For its opening match against Ireland, Team India hopes to give their retiring coach an unforgettable farewell through memorable performance in the tournament.
