Qaid Farhan Alkadi, 11 children’s father, was held captive by Hamas for 326 days, before being rescued by the Israeli Defense Forces on Tuesday morning in a high stakes mission. The New York Post reported that soldier located Alkadi in a shabby condition in the Hamas tunnels in southern Gaza.
Alkadi is from the Bedouin Arab Community of Israel.
The video published by the IDF captures Farhan Alkadi, 52, extending his hand to idf brig.gen ictzik cohen. In the video, he is clearly thanking the soldiers for bringing him, a captured soldier, out of danger. He was very happy and was beaming while playing with Cohen and other soldiers.
In yet another clip, he is seen giving thumbs up to soldiers walking towards a military helicopter. Even though there was noticeable fear concerning the ‘ride’, which was apparently a helicopter, Alkadi maintained his ‘smile’ all through the ride out of Gaza. He was transported to Jew in Soroka Hospital at Beersheba where he received immediate attention from the staff.
The IDF has still not put out all the particulars of the emergency rescue. And therefore the IDF rescue operation was successful based on intelligence. The military met no resistance which is an indication that Hamas militants probably ran away from the battlefield. This is consistent with past events where IDF soldiers faced very weak resistance while conducting operations in southern Gaza.
Opening up about his feelings, Akkadi recounted how he was left saying, “Hebrew outside the door, oh, I couldn’t believe it, couldn’t believe it,” as quoted by the times of israel.
Farhan Alkadi had first met the Israeli Prime Minister he congratulated following his recovery from healthy checks and returned to his family. He thanked him for saving him and requested him to rescue more hostages.
“There are others who are waiting,” Farhan Alkadi told the Prime Minister. “People are suffering there, every minute… do everything to bring people home.”
A guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen, Akkadi was kidnapped by Hamas along the ‘Until Mivtahim on kodia road’. His rescue represents the first time an actual hostage has ever been rescued from Gaza’s network of tunnels. Until now all link.
The backdrop of the operation was that relevant to manette wherein there was an ongoing fight between Israel and Hamas. Hostages remain trapped and still need to be rescued. As for Akkadi, it is extremely difficult for them to do this and therefore no time should be lost in rescuing them.
