In the early hours of Saturday morning, Shikhar Dhawan, an experienced Indian opener, confirmed his retirement from international and domestic cricket, sparking off an outpouring of well-wishes to the 38-year-old for a highly successful career.
The whole sporting world was united in paying tribute to Dhawan as he went into retirement after a remarkable career spanning 14 years.
Punjab Kings, Dhawan’s IPL Franchise also had some special words for their skipper as they wished him through an interesting way that has MS Dhoni’s touch on it.
The franchise wrote the time of Shikhar Dhawan’s retirement right down to the last minute just like that by MS Dhoni when he announced his retirement. The franchise captioned this video with a line about when will dhawan retire “the same” as dhoni did during his retirement declaration
Dhawan retired two years after his last national team jersey appearance.
“This is especially satisfying for me because I have played all three formats representing my country,” said the 38-year-old who debuted in ODIs against Australia at Visakhapatnam on October 20, 2010.
During his stay in international cricket , Shikhar Dhawan appeared in thirty-four test matches , one hundred and sixty seven One-Day Internationals and 68 Twenty-20 Internationals (T20Is).
He performed best in ODIs scoring over six thousand runs at an average of more than forty four per game. He averaged only around forty-one points within 2315 tests runs.
