The Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a very significant engagement with the Indian cricket team winners of the T20 World Cup recently to talk about their experiences through the International Cricket Council (ICC) tournament hosted in USA and the Caribbean.
Rohit Sharma led the side to victory in the T20 World Cup having beaten South Africa during last week. The team had delays in Bridgetown, Barbados after winning due to a category 4 hurricane before arriving early morning Delhi.
Prime Minister Modi was happy over meeting with champions at his official residence 7, Lok Kalyan Marg (LKM) where they had an exciting chat about their journey through tournament.
This experience was shared by him on social media platform ‘X’ saying, “An excellent meeting with our Champions! Hosted the World Cup winning team at 7, LKM and had a memorable conversation on their experiences through the tournament.”
A video lasting slightly over one minute and showing Modi sitting in a circle while talking to relaxed players was published by PMO. Rohit Sharma, the captain of the squad sat next to PM to his right as head coach Rahul Dravid sat beside him.
Players wore special jerseys that bore ‘CHAMPIONS’ on them and carried above two stars near Indian Team Crest which represents two victories of T20 World Cup by them. The environment was relaxed as players spoke freely with smiles seen on most of them including those who were speaking first hand dear Mr. Prime minister.
During this occasion when they made this visit, Roger Binny-BCCI President, Jay Shah- BCCI Secretary gave Indian Prime Minister Modi his customized Team India jersey. This jersey had ‘NAMO’ emblazoned on it together with number ‘1’ which is purposely put as an endorsement for gratitude and recognition towards head of government.
