Haris Rauf, the speedster from Pakistan, has optimism that his absence for three months due to a shoulder dislocation could have a positive impact on him as he gets ready for the T20 World Cup.
During Pakistan’s second match against England in Birmingham on Saturday, Haris Rauf, 30-year-old fast bowler put up an encouraging performance by taking two wickets.
While speaking to journalists before the third T20 in Cardiff ,he said,” I was injured the last few months but if you believe in yourself, then the layoff can be a blessing in disguise.”
Since you can now have time to get better and strategize again while you are out of action. It was great returning into cricket. Proudly when you play for your nation.”
According to Rauf concerning returning from injury as a fast bowler is very tough mentally and physically: “It is difficult. It’s hard work going through rehab and it is also challenging coming back to keep that pace and accuracy. But believing in oneself simplifies things. When I wasn’t playing or rehabbing, [I had] lots of time to think about my game which made me change many things altogether.
He concluded:”Fortunately I am back now with the world cup around the corner.”
Rauf’s comeback at Edgbaston couldn’t help Pakistan avoid crashing to a 23-run loss against England which left them behind 1-0 after two matches with their first one getting washed out.
However, Rauf insisted that Pakistan would remain upbeat ahead of their opening fixture at this year’s global showpiece meeting co-hosts United States in Dallas on June 6 after being crowned champions in 2009 .
He added “As a team losing any game hurts but we’re confident enough.” We feel we can beat any opposition on any day; even done it before. Learning from mistakes so as not repeating them again is what we always do. We would want to play better in the upcoming matches and make a comeback.
“This camp is very relaxed. We are having fun. We’re trying to follow our game plans and pull them off well. The results have not been going for us lately but stick to your plan sometimes it might chase you.”
