A video is being circulated on social media which shows Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf getting into a brawl with a fan. As reported, Rauf who was walking with his wife on the sidewalk, was taunted by a fan about the team’s poor performance in T20 World Cup.
In the video, an angry Rauf can be seen running towards the fan and suggesting that he must be Indian. The fan replied that he is Pakistani. To prevent escalation some other three to four fans had to intervene.
Following the viral spread of the video, Rauf also posted a message on social media stating that he would not tolerate abuse directed at him or his family.
Pakistan ended up having a disappointing campaign in Group A of T20 World Cup currently taking place after narrowly defeating Ireland by just three wickets in their last match played on Sunday. They had earlier succumbed to defeats against co-hosts USA and arch-rivals India before recording seven-wicket victories over Canada.
With four points from four games, Pakistan finished third in their group, missing out on a spot in Super Eight. India and USA secured the top two spots to advance.
In support of Rauf, Mohammad Rizwan said “No one has the right to disrespect any human being.”
“Whether this person disrespected Haris Rauf was from Pakistan or India doesn’t matter. What matters is that this guy didn’t have respect and values,” tweeted Rizwan through his social media account.
“No one has any right to disrespect any human being especially when they are with their families. Such acts should stop immediately because values like tolerance, respect and compassion are becoming increasingly scarce,” he conveyed to me through my request for an interview by telephone.
Rauf along with five other players including Babar Azam (captain), Mohammad Amir, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, and Azam Khan decided to stay back in London for vacations instead of coming back to Pakistan after a miserable T20 World Cup campaign.
These are the players who will spend some time with friends and family in London.
