The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named two ex-players Muhammad Yousuf and Asad Shafiq in the newly constituted selection committee for the upcoming home test series against Bangladesh next month.
This decision follows a recent shakeup within PCB’s selection panel.
Yousuf, Shafiq were part of the past selection committee that carved out T20 World Cup squad. However, after team had performed abysmally not progressing beyond group stage, members Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq were dropped but Yousuf as well as Shafiq kept on board.
While Riaz served as senior team manager during tours to Ireland, England and World Cup, Yousuf also was with them as batting coach.
Red-ball white ball captains and head coaches will form the new selection committee. Each member including Yousuf and Shafiq will have voting rights and decision making powers.
Including non-voting members such assistant team coach Azhar Mahmood there are four PCB board members/employees namely Hassan Cheema (Manager of Analytics & Team Strategy), Usman Wahla (Director of International Cricket), Nadeem Khan(Director of High Performance) & Bilal Afzal’s advisor to PCB Chairman
These matches are being played under World Test Championship 2023-25 cycle between Pakistan vs Bangladesh in Rawalpindi from August 21st till August 25th while second one is in Karachi on August 30-September 3.
