As the cricket world gears up for the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be played in USA and West Indies from 2nd June, discussions among former players and pundits often revolve around predicting the tournament’s standout performers. Former India captain Virat Kohli frequently tops the list of players expected to dominate the run-scoring charts and capture the spotlight.
Interestingly, legendary Australian wicket-keeper Adam Gilchrist has a surprising point of view on this matter. Contrary to popular beliefs about Kohli’s success, Gilchrist picks David Warner as the highest run-getter in that tournament.
On Club Prairie Fire Podcast, Adam Gilchrist revealed on his podcast that he believes this will be David Warner’s last dance before retiring after this World Cup. Also on this show former England captain Michael Vaughan thinks that Virat Kohli will get most runs in the competition.
Kuldeep Yadav was selected by Gilchrist as his pick for top wicket-taker in the event but Vaughan went with Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa.
Kohli has concluded IPL 2024 as highest scorer of Orange Cap with most runs throughout the season, being only Indian player who won it previously two times.
However, from seven hundred forty-one runs scored in fifteen matches at an average rate of sixty one point seventy five percent with century and five half-centuries as well as best score made hundred thirteen not out (113*) while strikingly one fifty four point six nine percent which is his personal record during a single ipl season so far.
This season also saw him hitting thirty eight maximums equalling his tally of same number during 2016 when he accumulated nine hundred seventy three runs with four centuries and seven fifties from sixteen fixtures.
